NXAI’s Focus: H2 2024 and Beyond

Just six months after its groundbreaking launch, NXAI is proud to present the current status of its pioneering research and unveil future projects poised to significantly enhance the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in industry. Central to these developments is the introduction of the 7B-LLM, a new 7-billion-parameter model based on the xLSTM architecture, which promises to substantially bolster Europe’s competitive edge in the AI sector.

A Focus on Cutting-Edge AI Research:

At the heart of NXAI’s research initiatives lies the xLSTM algorithm, an advanced extension of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) technology. This algorithm, already widely recognized for its potential, is the cornerstone of NXAI’s efforts to develop a large-scale European language model. The goal is to create scalable and effective general-purpose AI models that can be deployed across a diverse range of industrial applications, including automation, design, quality assurance, and predictive maintenance.

Another key area of focus is AI4Simulation, a project dedicated to developing data-driven AI models that have the potential to replace traditional numerical simulations in fields such as engineering, robotics, and process control. These models offer more precise and efficient simulations, leading to enhanced design and optimization processes.

Recently, the research team led by Dr. Johannes Brandstetter introduced Vision-LSTM (ViL), a groundbreaking model for computer vision built on the xLSTM architecture. ViL outperforms traditional models in both efficiency and accuracy, with applications ranging from advanced segmentation to medical imaging and complex physical simulations. By leveraging linear computational complexity and alternating bi-directional processing, ViL sets a new standard for high-resolution image analysis.

Looking Ahead:

Particle Simulation: In the near future, NXAI plans to publish a scientific paper on particle simulation, further demonstrating its leadership in AI research. This paper will explore how particle simulations can be optimized for industrial applications, such as in the powder and food industries, showcasing NXAI’s commitment to driving efficiency in these sectors.

7B-LLM: Additionally, NXAI will introduce the highly anticipated 7B model, which is based on the xLSTM technology. This model is designed to significantly enhance the performance and efficiency of AI applications, with features such as high scalability and the integration of advanced memory concepts, enabling a wide range of applications across various industries.

Simulation-Foundation Model: NXAI is also developing a Simulation-Foundation Model, which will serve as the basis for further research in numerical simulations. Concurrently, Dr. Johannes Brandstetter and his team are preparing to release a paper on inference efficiency, which will validate NXAI’s technological leadership in this critical area.

Expanding the Research Team:

To achieve its long-term goals, NXAI is currently expanding its core team by recruiting top researchers in the fields of deep learning, numerical simulations, and engineering. This expansion is key to maintaining the momentum of NXAI’s research and ensuring its continued success in pushing the boundaries of AI technology.
